Today's top story has to be about the proposed "Desire Motel" that is planed in an industrial area of Glenfield.
The "motel" is to have themed rooms available for short term stays, aimed at couples who have no privacy at home, or singles requiring a rendezvous. Sounds interesting....
Apparently, the motel does not plan to leave out the single gentleman that may turn up at reception after forgetting to bring along a partner. Conveniently the motel will keep a few spare ladies for such occasions to save the embarrassment of a male-guest renting a room alone.
When times are tough (we're talking financial here) there is a school of thought that entrepreneurs should be shifting their money into liquor stores, gambling, cinemas, video games, DVDs and the the sex industry.
The complex in Glenfield is supposed to duplicate the Love Motel concept popular in Asia and South America that also appears to be a recessionary resilient business option.
It is difficult to fathom if the Desire Motel will get off the ground and become a groundbreaking new spin on commercial accommodation. No doubt the backers are well aware of overseas success of the concept, such as the property featured in the video below with a 250% occupancy rate! Now that turns us on!
Needless to say that we will be keeping abreast of developments;-)
